An Oxford pub has been singled out for its hospitality in a national competition.
The Butchers Arms, in Wilberforce Street, Headington, reached the final of the best town or local pub category of a competition run by London brewers Fuller Smith and Turner.
Licensees Graham and Helen Young were invited to an award ceremony at the Griffin Brewery in Chiswick, where they were presented with a silver plaque and magnum of champagne for reaching the finals.
Mr Young said: "We have been here for about ten years and our area manager has entered us into the competition every year, but this is the first time we have reached the final. We're really pleased because we are fairly off the beaten track."
More than 200 Fuller's pubs are eligible for the awards.
Pubs are judged on their appearance, the quality of their ales and food, involvement in the community and licensees' commitment and enthusiasm.
