Burford group needs more children

A town with few children has a pre-school where the teaching is good and the youngsters are confident, well-behaved and happy.

The praise came from Ofsted inspector Mary Chapman after a visit to Burford Pre-School, in Tanners Lane. She said the staff had a "hands-on" approach and provided a caring and secure atmosphere for learning.

The findings were welcomed by chairman Juliet Bennett who now hopes they can attract more youngsters, from three- to five-years-old.

"We have such a good report and our own building, but we are now down to 14 children. If we don't get any more, we will be down to eight by September," she said.

"Burford is pretty much a town for older people."

The group runs daily morning sessions, plus a toddlers group two Fridays a month.
