Computer help back on offer

From the archive, first published Friday 1st Nov 2002.

Barton Information Technology Hub is up and running again after closing for five months for a £25,000 refurbishment.

The centre in Underhill Circus was formally re-opened on Monday, October 28. Dozens of local people attended.

The new-look centre includes 12 new computers with updated software, including free Internet access.

The Hub was set up five years ago thanks to the Government's Single Regeneration Budget for rundown areas. Oxfordshire County Council now runs the centre and Yvonne Jefferies was appointed to manage it.

Mrs Jefferies said: "We would like the resources to be well used."

Courses in computing are to start at the centre next week.
