Staff at an Oxford charity shop said they were sickened by the actions of thieves who broke in and stole a day's takings.
Police are investigating the break-in overnight on Tuesday when about £250 was taken from the Marie Curie Cancer Care shop on Oxford Road, Headington. Manageress Cherie Booth said: "It costs £15 an hour for a Marie Curie nurse. These people have stolen hours of nursing from someone having their last moments with their family."
Staff arrived for work on Wednesday to find the back window of the shop smashed in and the takings of the previous day stolen from a locked filing cabinet.
Mrs Booth said staff and customers were heartbroken by the break-in.
"We're just so upset, all the hard work yesterday has just gone to waste.
"We have targets to meet and everyone gets such a boost when we have a good day.
"No-one can understand how they can do it -- you can't get any lower than to pinch from a charity shop."
