Cricket: Rudi rocks in Tetsworth thriller

OCA League

Leaders Tetsworth returned to winning ways with a thrilling seven-run victory over Brill as Rudi Rock returned superb figures of 6-14, writes BRIAN STANDISH.

After setting 160 as a victory target, thanks mainly to Noel Adams (41) and the ever-consistent Del Cyrus (40), Rock reduced Brill to 29-6.

But then Colin Young (85) shared a 94-run stand with 15-year-old Jamie Hiscock as Brill stormed back into the game, only to fall just short of victory.

Hook Norton moved into second with a seven-wicket win over Garsington.

Nigel Coultman (65) top-scored in Garsington's 152 all out, Kenny Smith taking 5-29.

But Hooky reached the target with ease.

Witney Swifts were reduced to 4-5 as bottom club Shrivenham finally picked up a victory.

Swifts recovered slightly to post 97 all out, but Shrivenham got home by five wickets.

Chinnor continue to head Division 2, after a good batting performance was backed up by the bowling of Neil Lawrence (4-40) and Lee Anning (3-32) in a 48-run win over Faringdon.

Harwell moved into second place after a 110-run victory over Oxford Rescue.

Chris Love (69) and Chris Butcher (39) shared a partnership of 98 as Harwell rattled up 204-8, before Steve Oliver (4-30) and Love (4-19) rolled Rescue over for just 94.

Twyford were once again indebted to Haroon Malik, who hit 76 as they beat Eynsham by six wickets.

Horley recorded a crucial victory. beating Marsh Gibbon by 74 runs.

David Taylor top-scored with 52 not out in Horley's 191-4, before Dave Beck (5-25) and Matthew Bull (3-8) reduced Marsh Gibbon to 117 all out.

Minster Lovell were knocked off top spot in Division 3 after losing a low-scoring affair against Combe.

On a damp track, Combe were restricted to just 133-8, but in reply, Minster struggled to come to terms with the conditions, and were bowled out for just 99.

Letcombe benefited to move top with a 38 run victory at Begbroke.

Letcombe reached 148-6, thanks to a 70-partnership between Dave Bowden (52) and Pete Bryan (42).

Begbroke then crumbled to 110 all out.

A second-wicket stand of 106 between Rick Hilario (60) and Tristan Barratt (51) helped got Marcham off to a solid start against Deddington in Division 4.

Matt Launchbury smashed 94 in just 46 balls to get Marcham to 263-6.

Deddington were then rolled over for 160 in reply, Neil Cotterell taking 5-42.

Chris Allen was again in fine form for Watlington as his 3-18 and 48 not out helped his team to a four-wicket victory over Westcott.

East & West Hendred just about surrendered any chance of promotion by losing at home to lowly Kennington.

Kennington reached 188-9, despite Julian Hitchman's 5-35, but in reply, Hendred collapsed from 130-1 to 183-9 to lose by five runs. Jason Parry made 84.

In Division 5, Radley moved top of the table with a five-wicket victory over Risinghurst.

Batting first, Risinghurst found runs hard to come by as they reached 160-9, thanks mainly to Nick Poulter's 52.

In reply, Radley started slowly, but won the match with three overs to spare after an unbeaten sixth-wicket stand of 46 between Nik King (39no) and Richard Cook.

Britwell Salome stay top of Division 6 after making short work of Steventon.

They dismissed Steventon for just 100, before knocking off the runs for five wickets.

Buckland kept up the pressure with a 40-run victory over Stanton Harcourt.

Tim Duester slammed a superb century as Charlbury 2nd recorded a two-wicket victory over Minster Lovell 2nd in Division 7.

Duester hit 110 not out as Charlbury, chasing 191 for victory, recovered from 80-6 to edge home.

In Division 9, Stonesfield 2nd moved a step closer to the title with a 29-run victory over second-placed Marcham 2nd.

Ben Redknap hit 74 in Stonesfield's 194, but the star of the day was Stewart Moss, who grabbed 6-37 as Marcham were bowled out for 165 in reply.

There was an amazing game at Uffington 2nd, where they beat Yarnton by 16 runs, despite being bowled out for 44!

Jim Terry then took 6-12 as Yarnton were skittled for 28 in reply.
