Cricket: Dhruve and Merry do the trick again for Thame

From the archive, first published Monday 4th Aug 2003.

Thame completed the league double over Tring with a comfortable victory at Church Meadow which keeps them fourth in the Division 2 West table.

Skipper Steve Merry put Tring in on a slow wicket and the visitors reached 59-2 before Merry joined the attack.

The wily spinner captured three quick wickets and with Rakesh Dhruve removing Matt Bowyer for a useful 53, Tring went to lunch at 87-5 off 37 overs.

Tring's later order succumbed to Dhruve, who finished with another five-wicket haul as the last wicket fell in the 60th over.

Thame lost Chris Wynd early on in their reply, but fellow opener Manoj Parmar archored the innings with a patient 53 and the home side eased to a five-wicket win in trhe 52nd over.
