A continental market running for three days in Oxford's Broad Street, looks set to get the go-ahead.
On Thursday, (Oct 28) members of the city council will consider an application to run the market on Friday, November 5, Saturday, November 6, and Sunday, November 7.
The proposal by Continental and Old French Market (COFM) Ltd does not clash with the monthly farmers' market at Gloucester Green and officers are recommending that the application for street trading consent should be approved.
COFM has run similar events in Bournemouth, Scarborough and St Albans and there would be up to 30 stalls selling a variety of goods, including leather and food, but not items available in shops in Broad Street.
The stalls would be located between the bollards at the west side of the street and the normal parking arrangements would be suspended. COFM will be charged a fee of £125 a day if the application is approved.
In May, Geoff Drinkel, marketing manager of Continental and Old French Market Ltd, told the central, south and west area committee that the market could visit Oxford twice a year.
Traders in Broad Street have not objected to the proposal and city centre management company OX1 has also backed it.
Gloucester Green Traders Association said it was "concerned" that previous requests for Gloucester Green market to trade from Broad Street had been turned down.
