ATHLETICS: Radley youngsters bounce back

Radley have bounced straight back at the first attempt in the UK Young Athletes League after gaining promotion with victory in the final Southern 2 North meeting at Tilsley Park, Abingdon.

They triumphed with 532 points from Newbury with 507 and Banbury & Bicester with 388 and now return to Southern 1 West.

Emma Grant won the track athlete-of-the-match award for her sparkling win in the under 15 girls' 800m in 2mins 20.1secs.

Sam Parish starred in the under 15 boys high jump, beating the Southern 2 North record with 1.54m.

Olivia Elder posted a personal best of 12.3 in finishing second to English Schools champion Claris Underwood (Chilton) in the under 15 girls 100m.

At under 17, Stacy Middleton was named the field athlete of the match following her leap of 10.77m to win the triple jump.

Abingdon Amblers' Callum Percival won the boys' field athlete-of-the-match award with 9.23m in the under 13 shot.
